Mission of the Position
The Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Ministry serves the mission of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church by fostering a vibrant culture of discipleship among youth and young adults. Rooted in the teachings and sacramental life of the Catholic Church, this position seeks to accompany young people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and fuller participation in the life of the Church.
The Coordinator provides leadership for evangelization, catechesis, fellowship, prayer, service, and missionary outreach for youth and young adults while collaborating closely with parish staff, school leadership, volunteers, and families.
Essential Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry (Grades 4–12)
- Develop and lead a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry program.
- Coordinate regular youth nights, Bible studies, small groups, retreats, service projects, and social events.
- Foster a welcoming and engaging environment where young people encounter Christ and grow in discipleship.
- Encourage participation in Sunday Mass, Adoration, Reconciliation, and parish life.
- Mentor and accompany youth in spiritual and personal development.
- Promote vocations (marriage, priesthood, religious life, holy single life).
- Collaborate with Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation and Director of Faith Formation to. offer sacramental retreats.
Young Adult Ministry (Ages 18–35)
- Develop and coordinate a vibrant ministry for young adults that includes faith formation, fellowship, prayer opportunities, and service initiatives.
- Organize young adult gatherings such as theology discussions, small groups, socials, service projects, retreats, and pilgrimages.
- Foster authentic Catholic community and provide opportunities for spiritual growth and leadership development.
- Encourage integration of young adults into the broader life and ministries of the parish.
- Support young adults in navigating vocational discernment, Catholic family life, and faithful Christian living.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation to offer family faith opportunities for young families.
Evangelization & Discipleship
- Create opportunities for relational ministry and personal accompaniment.
- Invite inactive or disconnected youth and young adults into deeper participation in parish
- Build a culture of missionary discipleship rooted in prayer, Scripture, and the Sacraments.
- Encourage leadership development among youth and young adults.
Church & School Collaboration
- Collaborate with the staff of Our Lady of Perpetual School to assist in spiritual formation of students and families.
- Plan and lead weekly small group opportunities for grades 6-8 during the school day.
- Work collaboratively with parish clergy, staff, catechists, and ministry leaders.
- Participate in parish events, staff meetings, and strategic planning initiatives.
Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers and core team members.
- Foster a culture of hospitality, prayer, accountability, and missionary outreach among ministry volunteers.
- Ensure compliance with diocesan safe environment policies.
Communication & Administration
- Manage calendars, budgets, registrations, and safe-environment records.
- Communicate effectively through bulletin, social media, as well as email and text through parish communication systems.
- Coordinate logistics for events, retreats, conferences, and transportation.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who demonstrates fidelity to Catholic teaching and a vibrant sacramental life.
- Passion for evangelization, discipleship, and ministry with youth and young adults.
- Ability to communicate the Catholic faith clearly and joyfully.
- Strong relational, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with teens, college students, young professionals, and young families.
- Experience in youth ministry, young adult ministry, catechesis, campus ministry, or related ministry preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in theology, pastoral ministry, catechetics, education, or a related field preferred.
- Must successfully complete diocesan background checks and safe environment training.
