It’s the Year of St. Joseph!
By Vatican News
In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis describes Saint Joseph as a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, an accepting father; a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows.
The Letter marks the 150th anniversary of Blessed Pope Pius IX’s declaration of St Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To celebrate the anniversary, Pope Francis has proclaimed a special “Year of St Joseph,” beginning on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception 2020 and extending to the same feast in 2021.
The Feast of Saint Joseph | March 19, 2021
Friday, March 19 is the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary! In honor of this special year dedicated to him, we will be holding a day full of special prayer opportunities.
We will begin the day with our usually scheduled Daily Mass at 8:30 am.
Adoration & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Following Daily Mass, we will hold Adoration and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9 am to 9 pm. This will also be our parish’s participation in the Diocese-wide 40 Days of Adoration. Adoration and Exposition will take place in the Nave all day.
We need at least 2 Adorers to sign up for each hour, so that we ensure Our Lord is never left unattended. Our sign-up form has spots for 6 Adorers for each time slot. If all the time slots are taken, you may still come to Adoration during that time as long as you can maintain proper social distancing. However, if there are 4 or more open slots for any time period below, that means we do not yet have 2 Adorers committed to that hour, and we could really use your help!
Stations of the Cross
Because March 19 falls on a Friday during Lent, we will have Stations of the Cross in the Nave at 7 pm. Here at Our Lady, we have a rotational schedule of leaders for Stations, and March 19 will be led by our Music Director, Scott Ewing, along with members of our talented choir. Join us for a beautiful evening!
Sacrament of Confession
We will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 7 to 8 pm, at the same time as Stations of the Cross.
Solemnity during Lent
Solemnities are are celebrations of great importance. On solemnities, you do not have to fast, even during Lent! This means that also, even though it is a Friday during Lent, you can eat meat to celebrate this special day!
