First Friday and Consecration of the US to Mary, Mother of the Church

Archbishop Gomez, who is the Archbishop of Los Angeles, and also the President of the US conference of Catholic Bishops,  said in a letter sent to all American bishops April 22, that the Marian reconsecration would be done under the title of “Mary, Mother of the Church.” in response to the pandemic. He invited all the bishops of the country and Canada to join him in prayer on May 1 at 3 pm EDT.

EWTN will air the ceremony and will have 1 hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the above mentioned times.  The USCCB website has more resources, including a worship aid for the ceremony. The consecration and prayers are for the end of the coronavirus in our country and the whole world. What a blessing that coincides with our normal First Friday of Adoration that we normally did, do and will continue every month.

Since the Church and the Chapel are closed until further notice due to COVI-19 at least, parishioners devoted to the Blessed Sacrament can go to a special place wherever you are and dedicate and hour, half hour, fifteen minutes as much or as little time each one want to dedicate, to Adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament spiritually in front of an image of Jesus in any devotion and recite the Divine Praises, the Rosary and whatever other prayer on this First Friday of the month, May 1st.
