Christmas: The Nativity of the Lord

Holy Day of Obligation | Mass Times

This year is unique in that, because Christmas falls on a Monday, we have two separate obligations to fulfill: One for Sunday and one for Christmas, and because of the importance of these two days in the liturgical year, these cannot overlap. Therefore, to fulfill all of your Mass obligations, you MUST choose ONE Mass from each group below.

Group A
Fourth Sunday of Advent
Saturday, December 23 | 4 pm, 6 pm
Sunday, December 24 | 8:30 am

Group B
Christmas
Sunday, December 24 | 4 pm (in church and school gym), 10 pm (church only)
Monday, December 25 | 9:30 am

Overflow seating for all Masses will be available in the Life Center, with the Mass from the Nave projected on the screen. Communion will be brought to the Life Center for those seated there.

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

Although not a Holy Day of Obligation this year, we will still have Mass. Come join us and ask for Mary’s powerful protection and guidance for the year ahead.

Monday, January 1 | 8:30 am

Be Generous

November 11 – December 25

Silver Streaks is pleased to announce that we are bringing back our annual Christmas “Socks for the Homeless” collection drive. We are looking for NEW socks of all kinds and styles for men, women, teens, children, and infants. Socks are one of the top three items most often requested by those who provide shelter to people in need. Our box will be located in the Gathering Space. Every Monday afternoon the box will be emptied to allow us to sort and count the socks.

Prior to the pandemic, we had participated in this tradition for 10 years. The drive was started by a Silver Streaks member, and after she passed away, the drive was continued each year in her honor. The last year we did the drive, 2019, we collected over 3,000 pairs of socks. Our goal this year is to collect 2,000 pairs.

Thank you in advance, and God bless you for your generosity in helping our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

Thanksgiving – December 25

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, through the Grove City Minister's Fellowship is once again requesting your support of the White Christmas Food program. This food program helps the needy of Southwest Franklin County by supplying them non-perishable food items for Christmas.

This year, OLPH will serve as the main sort and distribution site. We will met at OLPH in the parish Life Center on Wednesday and Thursday, December 20 and 21 at 9:15 am. to pick up food items from the schools The food will be sorted on Thursday, December 21 at 6 pm. The boxes will be filled Friday, December 22 starting at 6 pm.  The boxes will be distributed on Saturday, December 23 from 12 Noon to 4 pm. Tuesday, December 27 from 8:30 am, we will be taking all food items not needed for our program to the Grove City Food Pantry. Many families volunteer together to create a Christmas tradition of helping the less fortunate. We will have masks, sanitizer, and gloves available for each volunteer. Each recipient family will receive a Box of assorted food items that include fruit, hams, bacon, chicken, eggs, butter, bread, potatoes and many non-perishable food items. Last year, 94 boxes were distributed.

Your Knights of Columbus, council 4603 is doing the coordination of this Ministerial Fellowship outreach program. Many organizations and groups help out including Grove City Food Pantry members, students and the Boy and Girl Scouts.

Every school and church in the Grove City area again has been asked to gather non-perishable food items in December for us to collect. The community’s response over the years has been outstanding.  Sufficient food was collected last year to fill our boxes as well as donating over 36,000 food items to the Grove City Food Pantry.

If you have any questions regarding this program or to volunteer, please contact coordinator Pat Fahy at [email protected] or 614.875.3322, ext. 309 for updated information and for volunteers to sign up. You can also like us at facebook.com/WhiteChristmasFoodDrive to see previous years programs and updated information.

As in previous years, please look over the gift requests and select one or two ornaments. Then, purchase the gift, wrap it, and tape the ornament on the wrapped gift. Finally, place the wrapped gift under the tree. We will make sure that the gift reaches the special person that requested it. All of the gift requests vary in value, so please select one or two with which you are comfortable. Please have all of the gifts under the tree by Sunday, December 17

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is also involved in this fantastic project.

If you have any questions regarding the tree and/or one of the gift requests, please call Stephanie Islam at 614.783.0619 or send an email to [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Are you looking for meaningful ways to observe the faith with your family? Liturgical living in the home is a fun and natural way to evangelize to the people closest to us. It celebrates and revives ancient tradition and repackages it for modern, busy Catholic families. Let Kendra and her kids show you how!

Kendra Tierney is a widowed Southern California mother of ten children from toddler to college student. Her passion is liturgical living in the home. Through her blog Catholic All Yearsocial media, and books including The Catholic All Year Compendium: Liturgical Living for Real Life and The Catholic All Year Prayer Companion, where she shares how obscure Catholic traditions have shaped a strong family culture and Catholic identity.

If you haven’t been able to join us for our First Friday Family-Focused Eucharistic Revival Nights at Our Lady, you can see some of the content we’ve been studying below!

During this time of Eucharistic Revival, Jesus is inviting us to encounter him in our life stories. Together, we’ll explore the story of salvation as told through Scripture, fulfilled in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and lived out in the Church and the Sacraments—especially the Eucharist. At the conclusion of this series, participants will be empowered to live out the Gospel in their own lives and share its message of hope with others.

Memorial Tree

Thursday, December 7

Remember your loved ones who have passed away by decorating an ornament in their memory and placing it on a special tree.

The holidays can be a time of family gatherings, joy, celebration and laughter. But for those among us who grieve the loss of a loved one, the rituals associated with holiday time can make the loss more painful and pronounced. One can feel alone and forgotten.

You are not forgotten! Two beautiful live Christmas trees will be placed at the entrance to the church. Those who wish to participate can decorate an ornament dedicated to their loved one. Clear ornaments will be distributed after the Masses on the weekends. These ornaments can be filled with glitter, colored twists of paper, craft snow or anything your imagination can dream up. Include your loved one’s name either on a slip of paper inside or paint it on the outside. You can use one of the ornaments we will have or bring in your own.

Thursday, December 7 at 7 pm is the Vigil Mass for the Feast of The Immaculate Conception. Bring your decorated ornament to Mass and hang it on the tree. After Mass, we will have a tree lighting ceremony, and a blessing from Father Yokum. Following that, you are invited to a cookie and punch reception (hosted by the Bereavement Committee and New Horizons) in the Life Center.
